All in ONE hydrauliC power steering cylinder

The Marlic 3520 hydraulic steering cylinder is specifically designed for retrofitting on Mercruiser stern drives and is equipped with an integrated rudder sensor. The steering cylinder allows for easy plug & play connection with autopilot, joystick and rudder indicator. Also,  Full hydraulic steering at the helm is attained in combination with the Marlic SRP32 Orbitrol control steering unit. The Marlic hydraulic steering system must be supplied by the boat's existing Power Pack.

UPGRADE YOUR STEERING SYSTEM WITH MARLIC!

Marlic upgrades the boat's steering system to full hydraulic power steering, and allows for easy plug & play connection for autopilot and joystick control. The Marlic steering cylinder has an integrated solenoid directional valve and a linear rudder sensor, and is designed for Mercruiser Stern Drives. In addition, the steering cylinder has an integreated flow control with adjustable steering speed, and a bypass valve for mechanical emergency steering purposes. In this way, Marlic offers a simple, complete and unique solution for optimizing the boat's steering system!

hydraulic power assisted orbitrol Steering

The Marlic 3520 offers FULL hydraulic power steering, where force from the hydraulics controls the rudder, while the steering wheel is simply rotated effortlessly to control the steering direction.

electroniC Steering via autopilot

The Marlic 3520 has an integrated solenoid directional valve which can be connected to an autopilot via the cylinders plug connection. Thus, installing an autopilot with the Marlic 3520 is both easy, fast and simple.

electronic steering via joystick

The Marlic 3520 can be connected directly to a joystick via the cylinders connector, thereby enabling control of the solenoid directional valve. Thus, establishing joystick control has never been easier.

adjustable steering speed for the electronic steering

The Marlic 3520 Power Steering cylinder is equipped with an adjustable steering speed for the electronic steering. This is a central function to achieve optimal control with autopilot and joystick.

Integrated rudder sensor for rudder angle feedback

The Marlic 3520 comes with an integrated rudder sensor that can be connected to the autopilot or a rudder indicator display via the cylinders plug connector. The rudder sensor sends feedback regarding the rudder angle so that you (and the autopilot) always knows the position of the rudder.

designed for mercruiser stern drives

The Marlic Steering System is designed for Mercruiser stern drives and fits directly into the suspension on the boat's inner transom plate. The installation is simple and subsequently only requires the establishment of hydraulic connections to the boat's Power Pack and Marlic SRP32.

EMERGENCy STEERING VIA MANUAL HYDRALIC HELMPUMP

Normally the Marlic steering system offers full hydraulic steering at the helm. However, with the correct setup it is also possible to achieve manual hydraulic steering, which can act as an additional emergency steering, if the boat's hydraulic Power Pack fails to operate.

bypass valve for establishing emergency control

The Marlic 3520 Power Steering cylinder is equipped with a bypass valve that can put the cylinder in floating position, so that the rudder can be turned manually. This enables the establishment of a mechanical emergency control device, which is a legal requirement in the EU.

our history

The Marlic 3520 was designed and developed by the Danish blacksmith and inventor K.E. Larsen. Throughout his career and up until his retirement, he was primarily engaged in the development and production of hydraulic and electronic systems within the machine and electronics industry. His product portfolio included  hydraulic systems and control automation for maritime wire winches, which were used in Europe's leading fishing nations. Later, he was also behind the development and production of electronic scales for forklift trucks, which achieved great recognition on the domestic market as well as on the export markets. Several of his systems obtained patent protection, and in connection with his retirement, the covered patents and product rights were transferred to other companies.

However, K.E. Larsen's inventiveness and solution-oriented mindset never retired, and with many years in the maritime environment, the Marlic steering system became the next obvious development project. As a result of several challenges and limitations with power steering on stern drives, including especially the combination of hydraulics and mechanical cable steering, the idea arose to develop a complete and full hydraulic power steering system. This resulted in the unique Marlic 3520, which is a simple and compact plug & play solution that not only optimizes the boat's steering system but also makes it much easier to connect autopilot, joystick, and rudder indicator.

The Marlic 3520 is thus the result of many years of experience within hydraulics, and the unique steering system satisfies even the most demanding yachtsman. Whether you prefer traditional steering wheel control, autopilot, or control with a joystick, the compact Marlic 3520 accommodates all options and at the same time ensures a quick and simple installation.

The Marlic 3520 is compatible with Mercruiser stern drives and can be installed directly in the existing suspension on the inner transom plate. The Marlic 3520 can also be supplied with a specially designed anchoring platform, which makes the steering system attractive for yachts with traditional rudders.
